Breakfast was amazing, and the owners were so welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely stay at La Boulinière, with a spacious room and a great shower. The pillows were very thin, so we could have used an extra one each, though I could have asked for them and didn’t. The mattress was very firm, and even though I’m used to firm ones, I had trouble sleeping on it. That part really comes down to personal preference.

Breakfast and the location were reasonably okay, but the hospitality was entirely lacking. We told the host in advance that snow would delay us, yet we were met with irritation, complaints about our arrival time, and no proper check-in. There wasn’t a welcome. The “reception” also served as a pickup point for dinner packages, which hardly felt suitable for a guesthouse. The room lighting was poor, and some of it was broken. If guests are treated as an inconvenience, they should reconsider running a bed and breakfast. I strongly wouldn’t recommend it.

The view from our lovely room was amazing, and the host was so nice. Breakfast had a great range of fresh products, too. I was already impressed as soon as we came in. We’ll definitely be back.

I stayed at La Bouliniere from 10-12 February. The hosts didn’t make us feel especially welcome. I left my shirt on the wardrobe in my room, and for four weeks I’ve been trying to get it back. I called, sent SMS messages, and emailed several times, but nobody has replied.

The Ardennes are beautiful, and the terrace has a wonderful view. We had a terrific restaurant experience, with excellent food and lovely hospitality. Definitely five stars.
