Hostellerie de la chapelle

We had dinner on the terrace at the Hostellerie, and both the food and the setting were amazing. The restaurant offers outstanding quality at a reasonable price. Our room was in the Dépendance Maison Géron, tucked right behind the Hostellerie de la Chapelle, and it was a real gem. The rooms are dreamy, decorated with love and attention to detail in period style, with antique furniture. It’s a lovely hotel near Malmedy, one of those perfect places you almost want to keep secret, though it deserves to be discovered.

The staff were so lovely, and the price felt competitive for the service. The rooms were very nice, comfortable, and quiet, and the location is lovely, just south of the famous Hautes Fagnes parc, where there are great treks and walks. The restaurant is very good, just remember to book. It’s also not far from the famous track from Spa Francorchamps. If you’re in the area, you really should stop here. You’ll enjoy it.

The restaurant is in a former farm, with windows that were actually salvaged from a chapel. It has a beautifully decorated, cozy atmosphere. The dishes were absolutely delicious, and the amuse-bouche was thoughtful and really tasty. The staff were professional. I fully recommend this little gem of a restaurant and hope it never changes.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with fresh, great products, and the beds were good. We also loved the whirlpool and the shower. The room was spacious, with classic furniture, modern LED lights and good Wi-Fi, and the staff were friendly, though they only spoke French, which was fine for us in Belgium. The hotel sits among green surroundings with lovely nature and fresh air, even cows nearby. Our room was above the kitchen, so cooking smells came through. The old building creaks, and we could hear our neighbors walking around, using the toilet, flushing and showering in the morning. It was manageable during the day but unpleasant at night. Cars and trucks were audible too, though the nearby road wasn’t very busy. Check-in was at 3 p.m., with no earlier check-in.
