La Ferme Saint Pierre

A nice place for families.

There was plenty of space in the beautiful, large accommodation for our group of eight adults and five children. The heated indoor pool was especially useful while it rained during the first few days. Once the weather improved, we could enjoy the big terrace off the living room as well. The house hadn’t been cleaned properly: there was lots of dust and dog hair, plus a large dog treat left lying around. We told the woman we’d first been in touch with, who spoke good Dutch, and she immediately contacted the cleaning company about it. On the third day, our son fell and hit his mouth on an iron fireplace guard. When they came to refill the pool on day five, they asked how he was doing. That was very thoughtful.

The beds were good, and four of the six showers had been modernized, so it seems they’re gradually renovating. The house really needs that work. It’s old and very cramped, with low ceilings, lots of steps, and two very old staircases. Having two dishwashers was useful because one was broken and full of mold. The dining room chairs need replacing too, their springs are broken. Outside, the steps are damaged, with loose tiles lying beside them. I wouldn’t call it child-friendly: there’s no stair gate, and there are lots of loose and sharp objects around. The games provided were incomplete.

The bedrooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and a renovated bathroom for each one. The kitchens are fully equipped and have plenty of dishes and cutlery. When we arrived, the house smelled wonderfully clean. It’s a lovely house in a beautiful spot, though a bit far from civilization. The Spar is 8 km away. With two fridges, two freezers, a foosball table, and a pool table, though, there’s not much reason to leave 🙂
