The best hotel I've ever stayed at.

We felt completely at ease during our stay at the Hotel Kristoffel from February 13th to 16th, 2026, and will definitely return on our next trips to the Belgian coast. Thanks for a lovely visit. The family-run hotel has quick, attentive, extremely friendly staff. Our room was clean and a decent size. The shower was relatively small, but it worked fine for showering. Breakfast was generous, with freshly baked croissants filling the hallways with their smell from 7:30 a.m. There was always a small bowl of fresh fruit salad, including passion fruit, melon, and pineapple, plus freshly squeezed orange juice and unlimited coffee. Eggs with bacon were cooked to order each morning, whether boiled, fried, or scrambled. There was also a generous choice of cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt, muesli, rolls, and bread. Coffee from the espresso machine was free and unlimited. Drinks in the shared fridge were more than reasonably priced: beers from €2.50, water even cheaper, and wines from €8.00. Guests noted what they'd taken using their own lids, and settled the bill at checkout.

We used to have breakfast here regularly and were always happy with the food and service. We knew the usual price was €25 per person, which is also shown on the front door. The issue was the unclear, conflicting information about children's prices. The sign says children aged 2-6 pay €12, but our daughter isn't yet 2 and we were charged €12. When I asked about it, I was told the rate covered children from 1 to 5, which doesn't match the sign. We've visited before with our daughter, too. I checked the website afterwards. It still lists breakfast at €22 and doesn't give any children's prices, while the door refers to ages 2-6 and staff told us 1-5. With three different versions, it's impossible to know the cost in advance. Since we were asked when booking whether a child was coming, and I said we had a baby, any extra charge should have been explained then. Most customers will rely on the prices at the entrance. The €12 also felt disproportionate for our daughter, who is under 2 and barely ate anything. This is about clear, consistent pricing so guests aren't surprised, not about what food was on the table. If we'd known, we wouldn't have brought her. It's a shame, because we liked coming here, but this was our last time. In reply to your comment, I want to underline the main issue: if you ask during the reservation whether a child is joining us, and I mention a baby, an extra cost needs to be stated up front. The different ages listed online, on the entrance sign, and given to us on site made it impossible to know what we'd pay.
