Breakfast was amazing, and the owner was lovely and really helpful. It’s a big, modern B&B, kept very clean and nice and quiet. The area is lovely too. It’s a little far from town, but that suited us.

The rooms were comfortable, with big TVs and even BBC 1. In the shared breakfast room there’s a kettle, a Nespresso machine, toaster, mini fridge, iPod speakers and a Baby Grand Piano for guests to use. Friendly St Bernards hang around the yard, though they’re farm dogs and can get mucky. The outside of the B&B is fairly unassuming because it’s a working dairy farm, with gorgeous stone houses around it. Really, this place is faultless.

Our girls’ weekend in November turned into a SUPER weekend at this warm cottage near Maredsous. The rooms had top-notch bedding, were very comfortable, and many had their own bathrooms. The huge kitchen was really well equipped for making treats together. There’s darts, billiards and kicker, plus a jacuzzi and sauna if that’s your thing. Our children weren’t with us, but they’d have loved the indoor games room and outdoor playhouse. There’s also a pool for warmer weather :) We hiked the 7.3 km to Maredsous, then visited and tasted things at the surprising Maredsous distillery. We ended at the Christmas market with a delicious skewer of potato slices seasoned with Maredsous sauce. For the adventurous, there’s a scooter ride through the Molignée valley. Board games and music on the radio rounded off the evening. I recommend it!!!

We paid €100 for one night for four people, breakfast included. The family room is very spacious, with three separate rooms, and breakfast was excellent. It’s a good option for families and great value overall. There was an issue with the light in one bedroom, and no shampoo or shower gel.

I wouldn’t choose this for a friends’ weekend. The owner seemed unable to tolerate noise and would come around to the back door whenever she could to make that clear. When we were out, she also let herself into the house to check whether everything was okay. At checkout she made a huge fuss and refused to return the deposit. She also wouldn’t say a word in Dutch or English.
