Alpha Hotel

The location really was great, but I would never book Alpha Hotel again. The room was tiny, the mattress was awful and the pillows were flat. With Covid-19 ongoing, cleanliness should have been a must, yet there were stains all over the room and I had to clean and sanitize it myself before settling in. When I raised this, the hotelier said it was a low-budget hotel and that a blue-light lamp would show much worse, adding that this was normal for hotels. I disagree. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

We ended up paying twice what we usually pay in ostend. Dogs were €40 and overnight parking was €25, and the room was down a maze of corridors. We’d booked for the return trip, but we’re definitely cancelling 😞

A straightforward hotel with no breakfast or bar, just the room. The shower was adequate, and the king-size bed was comfortable. It’s handy for town, bars, restaurants and the seafront. There’s an underground car park about a seven-minute walk away, costing around €10 a day. Good value for a basic hotel.

The room was filthy, and at 180cm tall I could barely fit in the bed. The bathroom was dirty too, with lots of hair in the shower. It was 40° outside and there was no air conditioning. Worst of all, the €13 breakfast was covered in mosquitoes, from the bread and ham to the cheese, so it was impossible to eat. A very sad stay, the worst hotel ever.
