Andromeda Hotel

We paid €370 per night, including parking, for a balcony room with a sea view at the four-star “Andromeda”. We had chosen the more expensive option and were assured it would be carefully prepared. Instead, the room was shockingly dirty, and our second, cheaper room was just the same, with grime, a bad smell and spiders on the walls. We had booked and paid in advance for this long-awaited family trip to Ostend, so this was a huge letdown. The hallway smelled of old towels, steam and cheap air freshener. Inside, the floors looked uncleaned, the bedside tables were stained, towel holders were broken, and the towel dryer had red marks of unknown origin. There were brown stains on the toilet seat, crumbs in the bed despite the bedding supposedly being changed, unwashed glasses, dusty coasters and dirty water bottles. The balcony table had crumbs and stains, and bird droppings covered nearly all of the balcony and glass railing. The bathroom and toilet ventilation didn’t work. After a bath, draining the water made the sink gurgle and water came back up. There was also “something” in the bathroom bin. The towels and bathrobes were so worn we didn’t want to touch them, and the bedding smelled like chlorine and vinegar. We won’t return. It’s especially disappointing that a hotel calling itself four-star felt like a cheap hostel in such a beautiful place as Ostend. I ask the owner of “Andromeda” to check the room cleaning at least occasionally.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the wellness area was good, with two saunas, a hamman, a medium-sized pool and a restroom. We stayed in the Andrmeda suite, which was very luxurious and had a sea view. Great hotel.

The sea view was marvelous, and the seashore is huge. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance. Parking is available, though the space is very narrow, so a good driver should manage. The team was welcoming, nice and cooperative. Everything was very clean, and breakfast was rich and delicious. 100% recommended.

We had a wonderful time over our two-night stay. Beautiful hotel, lovely spa and great service. We’ll be back!
