Hotel Cocoon

I stayed for one night and was very satisfied. The hotel was quiet, the room clean and the bed comfortable. The location is very good, just behind the sea, though I had to park a long way away. I didn’t ask whether the hotel had parking. The staff were friendly and polite. I also got to try the open buffet breakfast, which I really enjoyed. There was plenty of fresh food: warm breads, white and brown bread, desserts, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, coffee and tea. Anyone staying for the first time could give it a chance.

Breakfast was heavenly, with so much to choose from, and the service was top-notch. Our room was beautifully arranged, and the hotel was very clean with a lovely interior that felt just right for a seaside spot. I really got that holiday feeling during our fantastic weekend at Hotel Cocoon. For me, it’s a 20/10 and highly recommended!

The location is great, but I can’t recommend this hotel for a business trip. The room looked cosy at first, yet the hotel is in poor shape and the rooms are very old. There were spots on the pillows and a dirty sock in the wardrobe, and the housekeeping staff didn’t seem very attentive. When I arrived, the room was only +15*C and everything felt cold. I couldn’t stand on the floor barefoot. I chose it for work based on a recommendation, but wouldn’t pass that recommendation on.

The location and the reception service earn five stars from me. It’s close to the best parts of Oostende beach and within walking distance of the train station, shops, bars and boat tours. Reception staff were friendly and professional. The room, though, was only nearly clean, and could have been better. The bed, sheets and towels were good enough, and the furniture was in good taste. The minibar was warm because its fridge sat inside a closed cupboard with too little ventilation, making both warmer than the rest of the room. I mentioned it at checkout while paying for what I’d used, and was told the hotel already knew about the issue. Overall, a positive stay and I’d return. Rooms and amenities get four stars from me.
