Ostend Hotel

We were there at the start of September 2025 on a coach package, and the hotel’s close to both the waterfront and town. The room was small, but clean and had everything we needed. The shower was small too, as others have said, though we managed. Cheerful, contemporary decor and windows that open for fresh air were nice touches. There’s a little bar for the evening, the staff were all friendly, and we enjoyed the tasty evening meals with several choices and the good breakfast variety. It has a nice vibe, and we’d come back.

The beach, shops and kids’ funfair are all close by. Our room was quiet, the beds were comfy, and it had air conditioning, a fridge, kettle, hairdryer and English TV channels. The shower’s small but does the job. Food was good too, salad, soup and a fish starter tonight, pork last night. There are two lifts and a nice bar 👍

We were here for a five day coach holiday. The hotel was comfortable, the food was fine, and every staff member we spoke with was pleasant and very nice. Sadly, I can’t say the same for some guests who kept moaning that English food wasn’t served.

The room decor and fittings look straight out of the 1980s. There’s only one very slow guest lift for five floors, each in its own colour theme, so our Barbie-Pink floor was easy to recognise. There’s no sense of modernity here, and if you care about USB charging points or want a TV wider than a chair, you’ll be disappointed. I was assured both EV charging spaces would be reserved for us, but the receptionist had put ICE cars in them. The staff didn’t seem to grasp how this affects guests driving EVs, or why we couldn’t just plug in to a faster charger elsewhere in town and leave the car there overnight. Inactivity penalties, the hundred euros paid up front, different charging speeds and RFID cards from different providers were all a mystery to the receptionist, as was the frustration of someone who understands those things. Because the hotel didn’t keep its promise about the spaces, I lost hours of sleep reworking the next day’s journey, dropping two destinations from the itinery and cancelling other tickets. I also had to leave earlier than planned to make up for the receptionist’s shrugging complacency, and was charged 20 euros for the privilege. If you own an EV and need to charge, stay somewhere else. If you have no aesthetic taste, no interest in USB points, no wish for a TV wider than a chair, and no sense of modernity, this place might suit you.
