Great wellness.

The private spa was a real highlight, cleaner and more relaxing than we’d expected, and wonderfully warm. After just one night, we felt completely de-stressed. Our room in the authentic building was beautiful, the bed was huge, and everything was meticulously clean, right down to toothbrushes, shaving kits, and Rituals bath products. We were welcomed with a tour and a drink. Breakfast was delicious and carefully prepared, with fresh orange juice, plenty of breads and toppings, and a fresh egg made to order by Patricia. Highly recommended!

The pool was wonderfully warm, the grounds had everything we needed, and the garden was a perfect place for a nap. Breakfast was excellent. The welcome and hospitality were lovely, and the rooms were very nice. It’s certainly not a cheap B&B, but worth every penny. Best wishes from Guttecoven, and we hope to see you again soon.

The room, Het Poorthuys, felt welcoming as soon as I walked in, with a pleasant scent and a nice, cool feel on a hot summer day. It’s in a former horse stable, and while it wasn’t completely dust-free, that suited the atmosphere. Casa Ciolina has several rooms, each with its own lovely decor, and the stay has a relaxed feel. There’s a little pantry with a minibar and coffee machine, plus a very firm box spring and a choice of pillows. The open walk-in rain shower was relaxing, and there were lots of extras: Rituals shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, shower gel, cotton pads, colored textile threads with buttons, a robe, and slippers. There’s a spacious indoor pool, unless it’s booked for wellness activities, along with other wellness facilities. I forgot my swimming trunks, so couldn’t use the pool. The bar is self-service and feels homely, though the drinks are priced like a restaurant. Breakfast had a good range, including fresh bread, rolls, croissants, juice, yogurt, fruit, jam, cheese, basic cold cuts, salmon, preserves, honey, and sweets. The hostess also fries an egg with bacon, and there’s yogurt with crumble. It wasn’t a huge, special organic breakfast like some B&Bs serve, but certainly more than enough. Privacy is guaranteed, and the hostess is easy to reach. It’s a great base for visiting the Lommel Sahara and Bosland. The B&B is on the expensive side for what you get, but I left feeling relaxed. Highly recommended, and worth a return visit!
