Château Charles

We were sorry we’d booked just one night at Chateau Charles. The family who runs it made us feel at home right away, and Max was especially helpful when we needed assistance with a lost item. The old mansion’s character is still there, but the rooms are modern. There’s a lovely valley view, and breakfast is simple, fresh, and tasty, served in a spacious room overlooking the garden. In the evening, we could relax in the lounge or have a local beer at the bar. The owners were attentive and gave us useful dining advice.

The park and surrounding countryside are lovely for a walk or a hike, and the decor is tasteful. Our room had high quality bedding and amenities, too. Breakfast deserves a special mention, especially the scrambled eggs. Chateau Charles was a little haven where we could switch off from everyday life. The owner is passionate and dedicated, and offered plenty of suggestions for activities and restaurants nearby. Thanks, Max, for an incredible weekend. We hope to come back soon!

Max made us feel like old friends from the moment we arrived, and was available throughout our stay to help us find restaurants and things to do nearby. The chateau itself is well kept, with a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast was great, with quality ingredients. It’s well worth the price, and we’d gladly return.

We were in town for the Liège-Bastogne-Liège cyclo, which starts nearby. The owner arranged breakfast early on the event day, and after we got back exhausted, he even served us a really tasty pasta salad dinner. The restored Château is beautiful, with spacious, comfortable rooms and great views of the area. There’s a bar with a mechanical pinball machine, plus plenty of comfortable spots to sit and unwind. We felt welcome as soon as we arrived. Perfect!
