After our long journey, the spa amenities were just what we needed to unwind. The B&B menu is delicious, and breakfast was a treat, with homemade breads and jams and really good coffee. Our hosts made an already lovely stay even better. The countryside views are breathtaking, and the rooms are quiet, spacious, and clean. A delightful hidden gem.

We first stayed at the boernhol in 2015, my son and I loved it, and we chose it again for our recent trip. The proprietors are warm and hospitable, and nothing seems too much trouble. Last time, our car battery failed. One quick phone call and they arranged for their garage to look at it, at no greater cost than it would have been back home. Staying here feels like a country holiday at your favourite auntie’s, if she ran a bar with top quality Belgian beer and cracking food. I love this place and will be back. It’s wonderfully quiet, right in the farming countryside, just south of Poperinghe and less than 6 miles from Ieper, known as Ypres to those brought up on English WW1 histories. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped. A couple of things to know: they don’t take card payments, so you’ll need to use the ATM in the next town to pay your bill. The bar is only open at weekends, at least in winter, when we visited.

The food was delicious, and the lady was so friendly. We came here with friends for the national sports route.

Boerenhol in Poperinge made a great base for our motorcycle weekend. It’s wonderfully quiet there. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and small fridge. Dominique & Geert, the friendly owners, are always happy to chat or point you toward scenic routes. Thanks, Boerenhol, for a fantastic weekend. We’ll definitely be back!
