De Bonte Os Hotel & Tower

Ingas was a laugh and really helpful, and the coffee was delicious. Everything else was great too, though a mini fridge and kettle would’ve been useful, so I’m giving it four stars.

The owner is nice and charismatic, but that’s about the only positive. The rooms look like they’re from 1900, they’re very dirty, and towels and sheets are changed just once a week. The view is bad, it’s not quiet, there’s no air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi is too slow even for browsing. Breakfast is poor and the same every day, so it isn’t worth 10 euros. There’s no free parking nearby either, you have to walk 600 meters to the closest free spot.

The host was incredibly helpful. I wanted to visit the Rodenbach brewery in Roeselare but didn’t expect to get a tour, so he called them himself and helped arrange a visit. It’s only a five-minute walk down the road. The bus and train stations are easy to reach on foot, as are the town’s main cafes and shops. The hotel has plenty of character and space, a handy location, and a warm, personal welcome. It isn’t fancy, but the accommodation was more than adequate.

Room 31 was spacious and had lovely original decor. The city is under construction, so parking was difficult, and the taxi service was really bad. Those issues weren’t the hotel’s fault, and the boss genuinely tried to help. He was very nice and professional. I’d recommend the hotel.
