Het Godshuis

It used to be a monastery, a school, and a hospital, and now it's a magnificent hotel. I had a wonderful stay there! :)

A beautiful setting, with loads of space in this very large, nice venue. The heating and cooling system works well.

The rooms are really lovely and well made, but be ready for a wet bathroom floor after a shower. The towels are old and worn, and you don't get nice, thick ones. At the sauna, one of the two facilities was closed, and they don't provide extra towels. Breakfast was poor at first, though it improved right away when we complained. We'd suggest eating elsewhere. The restaurant menu is very limited, the food seems precooked and reheated, the service is questionable, and the atmosphere isn't pleasant. We were also charged too much for whatever we ordered. Check online for deals: we paid 120 a night without dinner, while some people there had paid 99 including dinner. We wouldn't return.

The building and grounds are beautiful, with great indoor space, and the location has so much potential. Still, the experience was a real letdown. Half the wellness area and the lift were out of order, and the power went off while I was showering in the morning. The staff were rude and plainly unhelpful, and the food was quite unappetizing. It could use a little facelift. It makes me sad to see the place in this state. I'd love the chance to turn it around, because the people who own it now don't deserve it!
