After breakfast, I was so full that it kept me going through our hike. The landlady served an enormous spread with lots of local products to try, which was really interesting. She was friendly and talkative, and shared some local stories. It was a very interesting stay in a local person’s home. The timbered house looks beautiful and is surrounded by greenery, so it’s very quiet. Parking was easy, and nearby hiking trails were easy to reach by car. The tea collection in the room was the best I’ve had, with really nice flavors.

We’d just come through the Vosges Mountains, where we’d stayed at a top-notch B&B, and booked an extra night here that morning. The website for 'Le Bois Dormant' looked fantastic, and the reviews seemed promising, so our expectations were high. Sadly, we were let down as soon as we arrived. The hostess was friendly and did her best, but the place felt untidy. The B&B is dated and could use renovation. Breakfast was plentiful, though not very enjoyable. For the price, it felt like poor value. Fortunately, we’d only booked one night.

The house has a lot of charm, and the lady was very kind. She made an excellent breakfast, and the spot near the woods is lovely.
