Breakfast was poor: plastic bowls, frozen fruit, low-quality food, and staff who seemed poorly trained. They still had Christmas decorations up on 25-1. We arrived on Friday evening. As Radisson VIP members, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a “suite,” but its two single beds didn’t match, with one mattress higher than the other. We asked to move. The next “suite” was so dirty and run-down that it shouldn’t be used for guests: broken floors, furniture, and lights. It looked like an evicted property. I went back to reception to ask if this was a joke. The receptionist showed us seven rooms, and all seven were in a horrid state. With a property in that condition, you’d expect do not cross lines. There’s no manager on site during the weekend, and the front desk manager was self-absorbed and wouldn’t listen to complaints. The name is Radisson Blu Spa Balmoral. Blue, and definitely not for you. Run as fast as you can. Stayed there? Here’s a trick. At checkout, the receptionist will ask to charge the card used for the reservation. Refuse, and they’ll have to find another solution. Be patient and don’t give in. Eventually they’ll offer a discount. With a hotel like this, you have to pay them back on the same level. The photographs tell the story.

We enjoyed the On si tree restaurant. The food was good, the kids’ dinner was free, and the waiters were great, though it took a long time for dishes to arrive. The hotel sits in the forest along the main road to Spa, so it’s peaceful and a good base for walks or a visit to the Spa race track. You’ll need a car or bike to reach restaurants apart from the one at the hotel. It has a lot of history, but the original building is very dated and badly worn. Prices don’t feel like good value for its condition. Renovations have begun and bring some noise. The new wing is in better shape. I’d avoid the hotel until the work is done, which I suspect may be by July 2026, though the hotel can give the exact date.

It’s a lovely setting in nature, away from the busy centre. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The reception staff were helpful and the service was okay. There’s a pool table, but the ball-catching baskets were worn out and some balls seemed to fall through. The hallway carpet and paint on the balcony railings also looked a bit tired. The gym, swimming pool, sauna, and steam room were great. Rooms came with bathrobes and slippers for the facilities, but since we had kids, we had to ask for extra robes. We also had to keep requesting swimming towels because there weren’t enough large ones in the room for four people. That was a pity, especially since they tended to argue with us about it. Breakfast was good, and you can eat dinner there too, but you need to book ahead. Dinner was fantastic, and free food for kids is a real plus. I recommend the hotel.

They charged me twice in December, almost two months ago, and still haven’t refunded me. I email them twice every week, and they keep saying the money has already been transferred, but that’s not true. How can a brand treat its customers so terribly?

We had a one-night family trip and enjoyed the hotel facilities. The sauna, hamam, and swimming pool were great, and dinner was really tasty and high quality. Breakfast could have been a little better, with at least one live cooking counter.
