Auberge Saint-Remacle

I had lunch here, but I wouldn't recommend it. I ordered the meat 360, with three kinds of meat at 130 gr each. It arrived kind of cold and overcooked, even though I'd clearly asked for medium well done. I tried one bite of each piece and didn't like any of them. When the waiter picked up my nearly full plate, they asked if something was wrong without even looking at me. I'd spend my money somewhere else.

We were passing through Stavelot on a Saturday evening, and the other places we'd tried were fully booked, so we came here. It looked a bit basic from outside, but we were getting desperate. They seated us in the back because the other tables were reserved. The staff were friendly and attentive despite being busy, and we didn't wait too long. We had the soup of the day, trout, a bottle of white house wine, and water. It was all good and came to only €80, which was a pleasant surprise. The other guests were a cheerful, friendly bunch too, so it turned into a really nice evening.

Our party of six all enjoyed the local dishes and had plenty of praise for the food and service. The chefs made me a delicious burger with cheese, and the meat was the sweetest I'd tasted in years. I can't eat spicy food, but they prepared it well for me. The staff were excellent. Thank you.

The short-haired waitress was rude while taking our order, and that overshadowed the food for me. Some people just shouldn't work in customer-facing roles.
