Hotel de la Source

We were on our honeymoon and called ahead. They told us a room was available, took all our details, including credit card information, and confirmed the booking. We packed up, checked out of our existing hotel, and headed to Hotel de La Spa. On the way, Gregory, the “manager’s assistant”, called to say, “Sorry, couple just arrived and we gave the room to them”. I called back and explained that the room should have been held since it was confirmed and they had our payment information. The woman who answered could see the reservation and said, “yes, here for 4 nights”. Even so, they had given the room away. I explained to Gregory again that it was our honeymoon, but it made no difference. He apologized and said there was nothing they could do.

The hotel is nice and close to the circuit, but don’t expect to get a drink at the bar. My wife, my 8-year-old daughter, and I waited 30 minutes for one beer, one cava, and a Fanta. Then I was refused service because I was impatient. The bar wasn’t even busy; there was nobody else there. Really disappointing.

You can’t beat this location if you’re going to the track, but there isn’t much else nearby. The hotel also seems short on staff and supplies. Everyone we dealt with was nice, but they didn’t have the capacity to look after guests. Food and drinks at the bar or restaurant took ridiculously long, and with nothing else close by, it would help to have more buffet choices and more drinks and snacks in the minibar. I’d happily pay to be served instead of going without. The front desk staff were always pleasant. When we left, we couldn’t get a cab, so the guy on duty used his own car to give us a ride to the train. That was above and beyond. Thank you.

We had a short stay at the end of February. The room and service were excellent, and breakfast was great too. It’s a lovely place, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the location is wonderful. I’d be very happy to come back.
