I would never go back. For the price, the room wasn't worth it, from the toilet paper and cosmetics to the shower. The bed was the only reasonably decent thing, but my wife and I travel the world and still didn't think the room was worth that price. Service was a problem too. We waited at the front desk when we arrived and checked in without anyone mentioning special breakfast formalities. When it was time to eat, we took the usual stairs near our room. There were no signs telling us to wait or pointing to a breakfast area. The large room was full of set tables, and we waited anyway, since we're generally decent people and have managed catering before. With no signs and only one waitress running around, and the rude, tallish, bearded man in his late thirties nowhere to be seen, we served ourselves from the buffet and looked for a table for two. They were all taken, so we sat at one of the larger set tables where another group was already sitting. There were no signs saying it was for lunch. The breakfast wasn't amazing, and the room was rather loud. As we finished our one plate, my wife quietly told me it was drafty. Then the tallish, bearded man in his mid thirties came up behind us, took my cutlery, and told us off for sitting there. I started by apologising and asking what the problem was, but he questioned whether we understood how a hotel works and complained that he'd have to set the table again for lunch. This was at 9:45 in the morning!!! At checkout I waited for the receptionist to ask how things went, but she only said, "we don't need anything from you". I told her the breakfast staff had been extremelt rude, and she just shrugged. I rarely write bad reviews, and I'm pissed off that I wasted 5 minutes writing this. Still, I hope it stops other people runing part of their weekend. Life is too short.

Diego served me excellently. The room was beautiful, with a relaxing spa bath, and the winter hamburger was the tastiest burger I've had in a long time.

Those vaulted ceilings and cobblestones give the place a special feel. The rooms were comfortable, breakfast was plentiful, and the location is right beside Waterloo Office Park and MasterCard's HQ.

The room was freezing when we arrived because the heating was off. There were no radiators in the room or restaurant, either. At breakfast, we waited by the counter for the waitress to seat us, but she wandered around without greeting anyone or showing guests to tables. We eventually looked for a place ourselves, but the small tables were either occupied or dirty. After getting food, we checked again and still couldn't find a free table, so we sat at the large one. As we were finishing, a waiter came over, shouted at my husband, and took away his cutlery. He scolded us for using a table laid for lunch. We explained there hadn't been a small table available, but he kept shouting that wasn't true and said we should have waited to be seated. We had waited, and nobody came over. A family beside us was also eating breakfast at a lunch table, but he only shouted at us. My husband told the receptionist, who didn't apologize or ask what had happened. The place is overpriced, and the staff are rude or simply don't care. The waiter should consider another line of work if he doesn't like hospitality or dealing with people.

The food and the calm, welcoming atmosphere made for one of our best culinary experiences. We started with scallops and a Caesar salad, then had slow-cooked pork, and everything was exceptionally tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive, clearing plates and checking that everything was okay. We'd been skeptical because of the poor TripAdvisor reviews, and everywhere else was fully booked, so we didn't have another option. I really can't complain. Maybe the restrooms could use a little refresh, but otherwise everything felt perfect. And I had dessert too, yummy 😋
