Getaway Brussels Airport

The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and my son and I got a good night's rest after a long flight. We arrived around midnight by public transport. The buses that go there are R59, R26 and 82. The stop close to the accommodation, about 200m away, is called Halte Zaventen, Woluwestraat. We'd definitely recommend it to other travellers.

The main bed had bedbugs, and the room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. The couch bed wouldn't open properly either. The vending machine took payment for water twice, then showed an error, and I couldn't get through to reception when I tried calling. No one was there.

I've booked this place many times for business because of its good location, but lately it feels like the owner no longer cares about the hostel. It was okay at first, but since 2024 the room air conditioning hasn't worked at all, there hasn't been hot shower water around 07:30 in the morning, and the washbasin hasn't drained properly. I'm sorry, but please do proper maintenance. Otherwise, autumn and winter will be difficult.

We booked this property after a cyberattack caused our flight to be cancelled and disrupted our original hotel plans too. Once the issue with our original hotel was sorted out, we contacted this property within twenty minutes of booking, explained what had happened and asked to cancel with a refund. They said they would honor a refund if Booking.com approved it, but when Booking.com sent the request, the property declined. That was disappointing. We appreciated their initial understanding and clear communication, but in the end we couldn't get a refund.
