I booked through Booking in July for an August stay, then called the owner of the Christmas tree right away to confirm everything. She said Booking would email me bank details for the deposit and that she was expecting us. I paid it, then called again so there wouldn't be any awkwardness when we arrived. No luck. When I got to Ahtopol, I phoned to ask when we could check in. She said any time after 1 pm. But when I went to check in, she told me there'd been a mix-up and the reservations had been duplicated. She took us to a basement room for one night, like refugees, and said she'd move us somewhere else after that. How many families have had this happen because of people so greedy and unprofessional, and who can protect our rights? All year the media urge people to visit Bulgarian resorts, then you arrive and feel like a refugee in your own country. I sincerely hope these people get a summer season of no more than 30 days, followed by a long, painful autumn with lots of heavy rain.

Our room was clean and cozy, and we felt at home thanks to the kind, smiling hosts who were always ready to help. The house is on a quiet street, yet very close to both the beach and the centre. A lovely place to relax, and we'd definitely come back.

The location near the beach was great, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless too. I had a really pleasant stay and would happily come back. It seems ideal for holidaymakers or business trips.

The terrace on our fifth-floor room was spacious and had a great sea view. We liked the room, and the staff were responsive, though we didn't need to ask for much. The parking lot they directed us to was almost impossible to access with a low car, because the entrance was steep and covered in huge stones. During our four nights, they didn't clean the room or change anything.
