Milano Hotel

Cheap enough, but for a 3-star hotel I expected better. Our triple room had a double bed and an improvised single bed that left me with back pain. It was pretty loud, and the staff didn't really speak English, so communicating was hard.

The staff were nice, and the room was clean. The location was good too, in a quiet part of the city with a nice park out front. But the mattress was old, broken and completely uncomfortable. Towels were very poor quality, and the toiletries were just tiny shampoo sachets, nothing else. It was quite cold that night, yet there was no quilt. The double bed had two small sheets, each enough for one small person, and a thin little blanket in the closet that wasn't close to covering two people. There was no elevator, so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs. Breakfast was chosen from a list of about 6 options, with each person limited to two types. That seemed okay at first, but the choices turned out to be very basic and limited. One piece of spreadable cheese looked old, with mold in one corner. The orange juice was a very cheap drink, something like vitamin water, and most likely had nothing to do with oranges. The coffee was decent, not good but fine. Our experience was mostly one-star material because of the mattress and lack of toiletries and proper bedding. I'm giving two stars because the staff were kind and, when we asked for an extra omelette in the morning, they made one on the spot and it was very good.

The restaurant downstairs was the best part for me. The menu has a decent number of choices, and the food was delicious. I'd especially suggest the pizza or pasta. The chief cook is probably a master. The room was clean and cozy, and I felt at home. The location near the sea garden is great, and room service was on point, though you don't really need it with that restaurant downstairs. I'd recommend the place, mainly for the restaurant.

We were travelling with our two kids, aged 8 and 11, and after a long drive we ended up outside at 21:30. We entered the room at 21:00 and immediately saw many bedbugs. When we asked for help, the receptionist tried to tell us it was normal and okay, saying she had bedbugs in her apartment too and there was nothing to do. The manager first tried to remove them, then after a few minutes told us "good bye" and pointed us to the door, forcing us to cancel the reservation. After the host replied, I uploaded pictures to show what kind of bugs we meant so visitors could imagine what to expect. Whatever the bug's name, I'd expect a 3-star hotel to have mosquito and bug screens on the windows and to spray for them. To clarify, the manager left us no choice but to leave, pointing to the door and saying "you should go away". Unacceptable.
