Hotel Mirage

The room's air conditioner wasn't working well, and it felt like a sauna during the day. We had to open the door to get some fresh air and cool the room down. The location itself is very good, within walking distance of good places to eat and just a five-minute drive from the shopping mall. Getting there was another matter: a drive that should have taken five minutes from the train station took over half an hour because of a strike near the hotel and police roadblocks.

The central air-conditioning was inefficient, and breakfast was absolutely basic. The hotel needs immediate renovation. Nothing about it is four-star. I don’t recommend it.

I asked at the hotel whether they had any rooms and was told no. Then I went on Booking and reserved one, and suddenly a room was available. Stay classy, Mirage. I can only imagine, with this kind of incompetence, that the hotel is some giant money laundering scheme. I’ve never seen a hotel here in Bulgaria treat customers this way and lie so blatantly about having no rooms.

The view from the higher floors might be the only good thing. Our apartment was nowhere near what the photos here showed: we rented one that was supposed to have a second room, but it didn’t. There were too many chairs for two people and not one window could be opened, so there was no air, just poor air-conditioning. The bar had only bottles of Finland vodka, so I suppose they sponsor the hotel or something. The staff were quite unfriendly and made us feel like intruders. Definitely not worth the price.
