The Old Captain Hostel

For the price, it’s manageable, but I’d look for somewhere else. The toilets were okay, the shower was nice, and the kitchen was tiny with too little equipment. The trash fills up quickly and gets messy, and the water didn’t taste very good. You also have to collect the keys from a different hotel. The room itself was awful: despite the no-smoking signs, everything, including the bed and curtains, reeked of cigarettes. Staff didn’t really understand when we asked about changing rooms, and there was mold in the bed too. Great.

The room and hostel smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which was disgusting. Smoking is forbidden inside, but I think some travelers ignored the signs. We also found ants in our room. It’s in a good spot near the Center, and it’s clean. Even though the kitchen is small, it has what you need. We had to collect the key from opera hotel, about 600 meters away. We only found that out after arriving at the hostel, and they could’ve shared that information beforehand.

I couldn’t sleep because the couple in the room next to mine played music and made noise until 00:30. I considered calling the police, but I had to get up early and didn’t want trouble. Smoking goes on in the kitchen, corridor and bathroom even though signs everywhere say it’s forbidden, and the cigarette smell is disgusting. The kitchen and bathroom hygiene is very superficial, and the maids clean those rooms and the toilet superficially too. No hostel in Burgas deserves your money except #A16. It’s closed right now, unfortunately, but it’s always clean and cheap 😣

The beds were comfortable, and the apartment was clean and pleasant. It’s right in the center, though you have to pick up the keys at opera hotel. The bathroom was roomy and the kitchen had all the facilities.
