The dam view is great, and the place was relatively clean, but it didn’t seem well maintained. Bathroom fixtures were coming away from the walls, and the sign about not putting garbage in the toilet was cryptic. There was a strange smell throughout the premises. The maisonette’s second room felt more like a closet with a tiny window. A small screen was hanging on a wall that looked as if someone had made it in shop class, and the curtain fell when I pulled it back. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The clean pools, friendly staff, and wonderful view were the good parts. In our room, though, there were ants, and the bathroom doors were rotten. We also found cobwebs on the terrace. We took a beer from the minibar because the price list on the door said 4 lv, but when we went to pay, they charged 5 lv. They said they hadn’t had time to update the prices.

People here are understanding when you have special requests, and the hotel itself is very good. Just know that the menu is limited, and the village where the complex is located has neither a shop nor another restaurant.

The place itself is nice, but at 135 lv a night it didn’t live up to what we expected. Coming from Northern Bulgaria, we also found it difficult to navigate to the hotel, which you reach by going through the gypsy quarter of Kardzhali.

We’d read the earlier reviews and weren’t expecting much, so Apartment Zima-1 was a really pleasant surprise. It was clean and brand new, with beautiful, stylish furnishings and a great view. Highly recommended. Seasons guests can use the pool area at Glavatarski Han and have breakfast there. The breakfast was awful, though, which is a separate story.
