The old fortress overlooking the sea makes a lovely view, and the old town centre is about a five-minute walk away. The bus and taxi stop by the small harbours is around ten minutes on foot. There are plenty of shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby, plus a small supermarket and an ice cream kiosk next door or one street over. Just a note: "Seasons" bistro on the terrace opposite isn't part of the Victoria. I stopped in for a drink and was ignored, so I left. Its reviews also seemed very poor for service and value, and there are better places close by. We stayed for a week, my daughter and I. It's a small, friendly hotel with some old-fashioned charm, and I liked the atmosphere. The staff were helpful with information, the shower was piping hot, the air conditioning worked, and the beds were clean and fairly comfortable. Our twin room was very cramped, with only one chair wedged into a corner. The toilet was in a tiny wet room, so we had to use it before the floor beside the pedestal got soaked. There was no sink plug either. The TV defeated both of us. We could only get a blue screen with channel names and a menu, though that wasn't a big problem since I only wanted an English news channel. Breakfast had some good cold choices, including cereals, local yogurt, packaged chocolate croissants, small cakes and biscuits, salty feta, little mixed olives, fresh tomatoes and cucumber, cold meats, salami, pates, breads, and fresh fruit. I noticed a few teas, two kinds of jam portions, and honey. The coffee machine broke down twice, and the orange juice was gone by day 5. Cooked choices were limited to precooked boiled eggs or scrambled eggs twice, and small pieces of precooked bacon three times. The bacon was often very fatty or gristly. It was okay overall, and I enjoyed being in a traditional hotel instead of a modern, soulless high rise. I only wish the room had been a little bigger for comfort.
