Pijama Hostel

I don't give out one-star ratings casually, but this place earned one. After a single night I was itching all over from bedbugs. The sheets were dirty, so I slept in my clothes. The bathroom was so dirty and unappealing that I skipped showering, and there was no toilet paper. There's no reception. The place is on the second floor of a residential building, and you need access codes to get in. When I arrived from Istanbul, I had no internet and hadn't received the entry details, so I had to find somewhere to log in and check the email sent during the day. It would have saved me a lot of time if that email had come two days earlier, when I made the booking. I'd just returned from a trip in central Asia, and had to come to Europe to encounter conditions like these.

The atmosphere is relaxed, and the place is cleaned daily. My private room was snug, with the bed reached by a ladder. The kitchen had everything needed to cook and a big fridge. It's a worn, outdated place, but still charming if you can look past the old stuff. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of everything. I'd stay again.

You get separate codes for the front entrance, your floor and your room, since it's a self check-in place. I had a small private room with a single bunk bed and a sofa underneath. The shared kitchen has a fridge, there's also a common room, and I think each floor has two toilets and showers. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the location is great.

I lasted one night before leaving. This was the filthiest place I've ever slept, and I couldn't even stand to wait there for the owner. There were stains on the sheets and the bathroom was disgusting. It's a four (?) bedroom apartment turned into a hostel, with far too many people for the space. Being cheap doesn't mean guests can't complain about hygiene. There was no reception, just a password for the downstairs door and the upstairs door. The bedroom door had a lock, but it didn't work, so anyone could come in. The corridor lockers were dirty and I was disgusted by the thought of leaving my clothes in them. To contact the owner, you can use the little piece of paper with his number on the door, if he picks up. For future female solo travellers, I only saw one other woman and her child, though I don't know how long they stayed. Out of the 10 people I saw, there was one woman and me. I chose a mixed room, but wanted to mention it because I'd have preferred to know. I was put here after something happened with the other hostel I'd booked. Five days later I'm still waiting for the refund the owner promised to arrange at the bank later. He deleted all the messages and never texted back. Don't trust this hostel.
