Centaur Hotel

We felt comfortable and safe staying here, even though Bulgaria was unfamiliar to us. Rila was incredibly quiet when we visited in the first week of June, and it isn't really a tourist town. The hotel worked well as a base for the Rila Seven Lakes Hike, about 1 hour and 20 minutes away, and Rila Monastery, about 26 minutes away. Our room was simple and very clean, with a great balcony view. The hosts were so friendly, especially Alexandra, and we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. Remember to bring cash for check-in.

We had a calm, pleasant stay, my wife and I. A good choice for anyone planning to see the nearby national treasures.

We only stayed two nights and wished we could have made it longer. We’ll come back. Hotel Centaur is one of our favorite places in Bulgaria, and we’ve stayed in many parts of the country. The atmosphere is special, and we’d give five stars to the location, rooms, hospitality, food, and staff. Mrs Alexandra welcomed us and was ready to take care of even the little requests from us and the other guests. With the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic making tourists more demanding, the hotel still met and exceeded what we expected. We felt safe and comfortable with the experienced staff looking after us. The mountain view is incredible, the rooms are clean and have all the amenities, and the food was delicious. We also loved the well-kept garden and the impeccable service. It’s peaceful and tucked away from big-city bustle, which is especially good for those of us working remotely. Everything was perfect.

The balcony had a spectacular view, and the room was simple but comfortable. The inn-keeper is a delightful woman, full of joy for life, and we also got to meet her equally delightful grandson. Being there felt like a warm visit with esteemed relatives. Service was wonderful, and the food was top notch and very reasonably priced. It’s an excellent location for visiting Rila Monastery, and the hotel feels like a hidden gem in Rila.
