Charlino Plaza

We only managed one night at Charlino Plaza Hotel, leaving early before we could see the city or the Danube in all its glory. I imagine Ruse would be lovely for a few relaxing days in summer, without Coronavirus. I’d absolutely stay here again. The room was amazing, with a ginormous bed and a bathroom that was adequate. The shower itself was great. Since it was Xmas, they’d gone to a lot of effort decorating the front of the hotel and reception. I think the manager spoke good English and was very helpful with our questions about quarantine and the city lockdown. We’d checked the location and price before arriving, and both seemed right for our budget. Still, we were pleasantly surprised when we got there.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the small hotel had a cozy atmosphere, looked very nice and had pleasant surroundings. Our family of four spent one night in a rather cramped room. The extra large bed had seen better days, but we slept okay. For breakfast, the kids were offered croque monsieur style sandwiches, which was really sweet. The Bulgarian breakfast included yoghurt, banitsa, cereal, coffee, tea and various juices, but no vegetables.

I haven’t stayed there myself, but friends who have say it’s a very good place. Its location is ideal for sightseeing and walks in downtown Ruse. The city Museum, Library, Aquarium and other places are across the street.

The breakfast was served buffet style, and there was a minibar, lobby bar and a nice restaurant. Everything felt like quality.
