Studio in Borovets Gardens Complex

Good value for the price, with a very warm place and a lovely view from the terrace. The place was great and very clean, and there’s parking in front of the hotel.

After three days, there still hadn’t been any room or cleaning service, and nobody we encountered spoke English. They hadn’t told us the spa was closed, and snow and ice were left uncleared from the parking area and hotel entrance, leaving cars stuck. There also weren’t enough parking spaces. When we asked the receptionist for help because the street was frozen, he was rude, spoke no English, and told us to leave or he’d call the police.

The security guard and some of the cleaning staff were the friendliest people there. Reception was often unattended, and when someone was there, they usually weren’t very welcoming. Apart from one occasion when another customer was with the receptionist, we never got a “good morning,” “good evening,” or even a greeting. I overheard the receptionist complain about “another 2 star review,” too. The place is open all year, but apparently the pool isn’t. I tried several times to ask about it and couldn’t find anyone at reception, or anyone in the little spa to ask about the pool or a massage. In my opinion they’re seriously short-staffed. I’ve stayed at lots of places and never seen reception hours and staffing this limited.

There’s a large nature park nearby with walking paths that lead up to the ski piste in the resort. The studio and apartment complex is comfortable, with a reception, outdoor parking, and street fitness.
