The food is a highlight. Ask for “svinx”, it’s a delicious specialty, and check the picture. The tripe soup tastes so different from the versions in Romania that I wouldn’t recommend it to Romanians, since they may expect something completely different. The hotel is clean, the sheets are nice, and the restaurant food is great. It was full of locals who seemed to know what’s good around there. Special thanks to Ms. Sașka, who runs around making sure guests are happy.

The beef meatballs and BG kebapche are what I’d recommend, see the pictures. The food quality is the best, though it isn’t cheap, and the service is friendly with some of the best chefs. It’s in a nice spot near the city, about 1 km from downtown on the way to the monastery of Etropole. You can also go for a horse ride, and there’s no need to reserve. Enjoy!

There are plenty of places to enjoy a mountain walk, and the wonderful Etropole monastery and a lovely eco trail are about 2 km away. It’s definitely worth a weekend visit. The food is really good, and they have a covered garden where you can eat fresh fruit for almost every season. It’s a quiet, cozy place, with a fireplace indoors in winter and a barbecue outside in summer. There’s also a small, well-kept playground for kids and a very good horse-riding instructor.

I’ve stayed here at least five times. It’s a cozy little hotel with a restaurant, on the edge of a small town beside a beautiful mountain. There’s a horse base next door, and a few nice local restaurants just a couple of minutes away by car. An old monastery sits in the mountains nearby, close to a waterfall, about a 7-10 minute drive from the hotel.
