Deep Blue Guest House

Waking up to the sea through the French windows was a real pleasure, and the roomy balcony was lovely for coffee or a glass of wine. The house sits on the rocks with a great sea view, plus a small side window looked out onto ancient remains that seemed like a picture at night. The studio in old Sozopol was spacious and clean, with a sink and microwave in the kitchen. The host was kind and gave us space. There were coffee capsules for each morning, and a coffee machine shared by all the guests.

The view is the main reason I’d come back. My room was roomy and very clean, and it was serviced daily. Towels and a hairdryer were provided, and the balcony had a nice view with a table and two chairs. There wasn’t a chair for the table inside, though. The shower head kept moving when I turned up the water, so it was hard to hold it in one spot. Laundry costs 6 leva per load, which isn’t expensive. On my first day I needed scissors for some labels and asked the host looking lady, but she said she only had one pair and wouldn’t lend them. Still, I’m satisfied with the place overall.

The room was clean, though it felt cheaply put together, with a few things that could have been improved without much expense. The shower and toilet are together, so you could sit on the toilet and shower at the same time. It’s about 850 m, or a 10-minute walk, from the beach. Three stars for a three-star house in a five-star location.

The owner was easy to deal with, and it was well worth the money. I’d definitely return, and wish I’d booked one more night.
