South Pearl Residence Sozopol

The location is the only good thing, close to one of the best beaches around. Even so, I’m not sure the location alone makes staying here worthwhile. It’s sad that a hotel with so much potential seems to rely on its location, without caring whether guests will return next year. The service was extremely poor, below any criticism. The rooms weren’t clean, there was a fly, the furniture wasn’t maintained, and there was so much dirt under the bed. The bathroom could have been cleaner too. The shower was broken, so I had to hold it in one hand to wash myself. I’d paid for parking, but when we were leaving they said my car wasn’t even registered in the system as paid.

I’m really mad that Southern Pearl Hotel has fallen to this level. The service is extremely poor, and it gets worse every year. The rooms are dirty, there’s a fly, the furniture isn’t maintained, and the bathrooms aren’t clean either. The service is below any criticism. The location is the only good thing. It’s close to the beach and Beach Bar Verano, literally a minute away. You’ll have to decide whether that location alone is enough reason to stay here.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the hotel itself was very nice and clean, with a pleasant pool area. The local beach is convenient, about 300m away, while Sozopol, the nearest larger town and sea resort, is around 4km away. A few details were missing, including the listed kettle and sheets. I’m sure those could have been sorted out easily, but since we were only stopping over, we didn’t ask.

The view and location were great, but we’ve stayed in much cheaper hotels with a cozier atmosphere and cleaner rooms. Our bathroom was old, worn and not very clean, the lights didn’t work except for the bedside lamp, and reception service was poor. There were no towels at first. We asked twice, then my boyfriend went to reception and took some himself. The neighbors were so noisy it felt as if they were in the same room.
