Grand Victoria

The evening entertainment was the one letdown. After the kids’ disco from 8:30 to 9:30, it went downhill, with bingo or a quiz dragged out for another two hours without much happening. Luckily there’s plenty to do nearby, including good acts and party games. The rest of the hotel was lovely, clean, and well staffed. Food was generally good, varied for different nationalities, and served at a good temperature. The all-inclusive drinks were very good, with lots of options, including mocktails for kids and anyone avoiding alcohol. The pool area was lovely, with a dedicated lifeguard, a pool bar, and a snack bar that seemed to stay open for much of the day. I’d come again, but plan my days a bit differently.

I stayed with my family while the hotel was fully booked. The food and location were great, and the common area was modern with renovated rooms. The Wi-Fi in the room was poor, though. The hotel gave us a lovely gift of wine 🍷 Thank you

I came back to Effect Grand Victoria in 2024 after a great stay in 2023, but the quality had fallen significantly. The sea views from the balcony and the beachfront location in the heart of the resort are still lovely, and the hotel remains generally clean. The manager of the animation team and the person handling à la carte reservations were professional and worked hard. Still, the management problems and safety issues have cost them a returning guest. The pool was unheated and only became usable once the sun warmed it. On day two, its filtration system broke. The hotel’s solution was to use a manual pump and hose each morning, which isn’t what I’d expect from a four-star place. A loose pool ladder also caused a child to suffer a bloody leg injury. The ladder was eventually removed, but that should never have happened. The hotel says guests shouldn’t reserve sunbeds, yet people were putting towels on them at 6:00 AM. By the time it was warm enough to sunbathe, every bed was supposedly “reserved” but empty, and management did nothing to enforce its own policy. Parking on site wasn’t enough, so I had to leave the car more than 1 km away. The hotel offers a shuttle to get your car, but using it during the stay becomes a tedious, time-consuming chore. Food and drink were worse than the year before, with about 30% less variety. The fruit wasn’t always fresh, and the desserts looked spectacular but were mostly tasteless. There was no bottled water or juice, and no fresh fruit juice either. A disco right in front of the hotel played very loud music until 3:00 AM, making it hard to rest. The location and view are a great shell, but the management is failing inside. With the pool hazards and the drop in food quality, I won’t be returning.

We had a great spot right on the beach, with free sunbeds and an umbrella, plus free guarded parking. The food was excellent, especially the themed dinners. There were two pool bars and a lobby bar serving amazing cocktails. Thanks to Afandi and Stella for the wonderful dinners.
