Hotel Ivana Palace

The pool was excellent and the best part of my stay. Breakfast was acceptable, though it seemed aimed at UK guests. The cheese and meat were such poor quality that they were practically inedible; otherwise it was a standard hotel breakfast. My renovated room looked fine at first, but there were several serious problems. The shower area had visible mold, and a hole in the toilet pipe caused a horrible smell, like rot and urine, making the bathroom unpleasant to use. There was a kitchenette, but it had no equipment at all, so it was useless. The sofa was broken and impossible to sit on. Without the mold and smell, the stay would have been fairly decent for the price.

The bar team were genuinely lovely, friendly, and helpful. The rest of the service felt flat, with staff mostly on their phones and no smiles. Breakfast was so bad we went to a friend's restaurant every morning. Ivana is an okay place, but I’d rate it closer to a low three stars than four.

For a cheap stay, it does the job, though the building is showing its age and the whole town feels stuck in the 1980s. The staff seemed just as worn out. My main issue was the cigarette smell everywhere. Even with no-smoking signs, my room felt like a dirty ashtray, and the stale smoke was hard to ignore.

We stayed a week with family, and the only especially convenient thing was the shore, about a five-minute walk away. The room and service were both average, and breakfast barely changed from day to day. Noise from the hallway came straight through the doors, making it hard to sleep on some nights when people were loud. Room cleaning varied depending on which cleaner came. Staff weren’t very helpful with our questions or requests, and didn’t seem to understand much. Nothing else really stood out. I wouldn’t give it more than three stars.
