Rome Palace Deluxe

Our six-day reservation turned into a wonderful stay, and we'll definitely return to Rome Palace. The staff greeted us with smiles and were always ready to help with information. We had a spacious, very clean room and a lovely Black Sea view from the balcony. Meals offered lots of variety, from Mediterranean and Oriental to Italian and Bulgarian food, with great desserts as well. The cocktails were mixed well, and each flavour came through. Parking was included, with a large lot where everyone could park without any trouble. Thank you for such a great experience!

The hotel claims four stars, but to me it's a lodge and worth no more than 2.5. We stayed five days, and the food had no variety. The furniture in the rooms was very old and never cleaned on time. The staff didn't speak English or Bulgarian, so the service was terrible. The manager is simply an inadequate woman. There was no security at all, day or night, and the elevators broke down seven times in those five days. The fitness and spa facilities weren't working.

We picked this hotel after a cancellation, since we wanted a prime location at Cacao Beach. The location is almost on the first seaside line, secure, and only a five-minute walk from Cacao Beach. When we went out partying at night, we always saw the on-site security. Free parking was useful there, too. There are lots of families staying here. Everyone smiled every day, which isn't common in Bulgaria. Our room was great, and for a four-star hotel the food was exceptional, with a huge selection. We sometimes wanted more variety at breakfast, but that's being picky. The coffee machines were very good. Food was continually replenished, so even arriving late, we could eat well. The chef was always at the buffet. There was plenty to choose from, including gambas and Mulles, lots of roasted pork, good ice cream, and fresh pizza and burgers by the pool. The alcohol was local, but we couldn't complain. We never got sick or had an upset stomach. People were cleaning all the time, and the staff were very friendly, mostly speaking Russian. Talking with them could be challenging, but we always got what we wanted.

For an inexpensive holiday, it's okay, but I wouldn't come back. The staff were friendly enough once you started a conversation, and the rooms were okay. A nice beach is about a five-minute walk away, while Nessebar or the Sunny Beach strip is a five-minute bus ride. The pool is beside the road, so it isn't very relaxing, and the music is too loud. A sewage smell regularly drifts over. Food is average and not exciting, and the all-inclusive drinks selection is very limited.
