Mars Apartments in Tryavna Beach Complex

We had a lovely two-bedroom apartment on the second floor with a great view of the sea and pool. The floor worked well for us, with only one flight of stairs down to the pool. It was beautiful and very clean, with everything tucked into white furniture, including the washing machine inside its own cupboard. We booked one of the Mars Apartments in the complex almost a year ahead, and arranged everything directly with Mitko, an English-speaking employee. The pool was quiet, with only one or two other families around, so there were plenty of loungers and space. The in-house restaurant has tables by the pool and waiter service. During the day we had homemade chips and beers, and in the evening the single row of loungers is cleared away for full dining at the famous cactus restaurant. Our booking included five free internet passes, daily room cleaning, and a free lift and pickup to the big supermarket down the road. The internet was great. I'm typing this review from the balcony. The location suited us perfectly. There's a beach a couple of minutes to the left and a larger one a couple of minutes to the right. Beyond the beach is the marina, with pleasure trips and a lively evening scene for eating out. It's expensive there, though still no dearer than the UK, of course. A decent meal with wine is probably around £30 per person. The Old town is up the hill from the beach and has some of the finest food you'll find. Check the reviews here and save a few places before your trip. We ate like kings there, at probably £20 per person. It's a good trek up, around 20-30 minutes on foot. We'd go a couple of times during the day to choose from the best places, then wander back down at our own pace. It was a nice change from the beach. A great, quiet place with everything you need nearby. We'll book the same room again.
