The spa center is beautifully designed, and I liked the pool too. I thought this was the best hotel in Svilengrad, since the others are even worse, but the visit left me with mixed feelings. We were there on a weekday, and the restaurant service was slow, although the portions were generous and tasty. It also closed half an hour before the advertised time, just when we were hoping to get food. The sauna was cold in the evening because they had switched it off an hour before closing. Maybe weekends are different. I also had a Balinese massage, and it was incredibly bad. I’m not fussy about massages, but someone who doesn’t do them at all could do better. At the casino, some waiters were good, while others had a terrible attitude and didn’t know any English.

Dinner was a treat. I had a fantastic T-bone steak, and the warm, fresh bread to start was delicious. There’s a great menu, and the dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavour.

The staff were kind, and the spa center is excellent. It’s a truly relaxing, peaceful place, with spacious, modern rooms furnished in a luxurious style. The location is wonderful, close to the Maritsa River and a centuries-old pedestrian bridge.
