Citadel Guest House

The host described it as a guest house rather than a hotel, and that's exactly how it felt. We stayed in room number 4, facing the main street. It had everything we needed, even wine glasses, a bottle opener, and a hair dryer. There was a mosquito net on the windows, and we didn't use the AC. The host was very helpful and responsive. The location was perfect, about 300m or a 5' walk from the beach, in the old city among beautiful buildings, restaurants, and bars. Across from the hotel there's a nice grocery, plus a mini market with great fruit and vegetables that doesn't show on google maps, and a Giro bike shop. There's a bar at ground level where you can have a chat and a beer. It wasn't noisy, except perhaps during sports events. All the rooms are upstairs, reached by lovely wooden stairs. In the backyard there's a linden tree, whose smell is lovely at the start of summer. The walls have pictures showing the history of the house.

The room was spacious, warm from the air conditioner, and everything was clean. In winter, it was super ok. The location is nicely tucked away from the street but still close to the beach. I saw comments saying there's a bar in summer and constant noise, so I'm not sure this would be the best option then.

Great value, with clean, well-equipped rooms in a beautiful building. The location puts you right in the heart of Varna, with quick access to the main pedestrian street, the beach, and the big park alongside the sea. Parking places are limited, so I recommend booking in advance.

The rooms were well kept and the bed was comfortable. We stayed full board very late in the tourist season, and there was still a wide choice of food every day, with drinks included too. I absolutely loved the Citadel Hotel.
