We had a wonderful room, delicious food, lots of variety, and lovely service. The team kept checking that we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves, from our first contact with the Reservation and marketing department through to the last moments before we left. The Reservations and Reception Team took great care of us throughout the stay. We’re already looking forward to returning to Marina Hotel and seeing the friendly, professional team again. Thanks a million!

Added in 2025: Things improved a lot over the year. The air conditioning is new and works great, and the food was pretty good with plenty of variety. They even served mussels, sushi, and rabbit. Still recommend it. I first stayed here for about eight days in 2024, in room 501 by myself. There are two small lifts as well as stairs, and the floors in the hallways and rooms are carpeted. Food is served over long, tourist-friendly hours, and it was great. With all-inclusive, which I chose, soft drinks and water were always available, along with five cocktails. You can go straight onto the beach, where there are loungers and umbrellas, and there’s an outdoor pool too. There’s a little sports area, though nothing too professional. No indoor pool, apparently it’s been closed for 20 years. The hotel is a long way from the actual city, so you have to walk or drive quite a bit, but it’s manageable. Basically, I loved it and would recommend it.

The lobby bar terrace was filthy, with sand everywhere and overflowing ashtrays, and nobody seemed bothered. I couldn’t get a coffee there around 7 AM, and was rudely kicked out even though I’d paid for all-inclusive. There was a hair in my soup too. I put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign, but the maids came into my room while I was asleep to change the towels. The manager yelling at waiters and bartenders in front of guests was shocking. The staff seemed like teenagers without proper training, and the restaurant felt more like stressful workplace drama than somewhere to eat peacefully. I got no rest, hospitality, or respect. Completely unacceptable for a hotel in a city known for tourism!

We booked three nights but left after two. Nobody at reception asked why we were leaving early, and our attempts to tell the receptionist went unnoticed. The beachfront location is fantastic, restaurant service was good, and the food was okay. The pool, though, was dirty and had sand in it, and guests got just one towel a day for both pool and beach. The hotel looked as if it hadn’t been renovated since it was built. Our family room was small and had no air conditioning. The cramped bathroom had an open shower that left the floor wet. Hand soap was missing, and even the toilet paper was poor quality. If you’re 18, don’t expect high standards, and want a party atmosphere with friends, this might suit you.

Service was generally good, and the staff were trying to do their best with what they had. Still, after our first night, manager Mr.Stoianov was nowhere to be found, despite the many problems the hotel was struggling with. With a beautiful beach, it was disappointing to see the hotel left without proper maintenance. We won’t return until things improve. We’d had a great stay a year earlier, so this summer we came back with friends, booking nine rooms. Only one room had working air conditioning, and none of the others were fixed before we left. Several bathrooms had leaking ceilings and a swampy, sewage-like smell. We told the front desk right away, but nothing was done during our week there except trying to buff away the smell each day. The ceilings looked like they’d been leaking for a while. The rooms were kept fairly clean, but they’re run down and need a deep refresh. The food was nothing like last year. The daily menus were limited, with about half the variety. The pasta station where they used to mix sauce into pasta in front of you was gone, and there was no pizza. Chicken showed up at every meal in a different form. Seafood was served at just one dinner, mostly processed calamari and fish fingers. Desserts were also very limited. I was surprised there wasn’t enough watermelon or melon, and when we asked, we were told there’d be no more during that service. At the next meal, two large plates of watermelon were brought to our table by the restaurant manager so they wouldn’t run out again. It was a sad all-inclusive experience in Bulgaria. There was a good selection of drinks, but everything was warm and there was a huge shortage of ice. No ice? Come on, another sad experience.
