Agusta Spa Hotel

Reception service was very good, but breakfast was uncomfortable. The woman serving it huffed and puffed and made us feel as though we were bothering her, like she didn’t enjoy the job. The stay was not too bad for a short visit, though the bed linen was poor and the towels were dark, probably once white a long time ago. The rooms smelled of cigarettes.

We had three rooms, and they were quite uneven. One was fine. The upgraded room our friend got had sheets stained all over, though they seemed clean and just very worn. Our own room had a strange damp smell, as if something wet had never dried properly. There were no window screens, so opening the windows meant letting in mosquitoes; we had to live with the smell until bedtime, when we turned out the lights. The service staff were nice, and the hotel was okay at best. For what it cost, the value was laughable.

The restaurant staff member was pretty unfriendly. We asked for coffee and she rolled her eyes before making it, and she reacted the same way when another girl asked for water, as if we were a nuisance. The furniture was peeling and could use an upgrade, too. Still, we had a nice 2-nights stay, and I’d recommend the place for a short visit. It was really clean, the room was cozy, and the hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the center. Breakfast had lots of variety and was very good. The reception staff were nice and helpful.

The free parking was easy, and the small fitness room was a nice surprise for a boutique hotel. We also enjoyed the pool and small sauna, though I wish the pool opened before 10 am so we could swim laps in the morning. Our room was comfortable, with a balcony looking over the city and mountain. Waking up to that sunny view was lovely. The reception desk was very helpful when I asked about Christmas Day dinner with my boyfriend’s family during our visit. The hotel responded quickly and helped us secure a reservation. Breakfast was the one minor letdown: limited options and no fresh fruit. Even so, I’d recommend it for a restful stay.
