The rooms are spacious, and the spa and gym have plenty of equipment. After those positives, my experience was deeply disappointing. For a place with a MICHELIN Key, this felt like a complete farce, easily the most gutting ‘5-star’ stay I’ve had. It’s also the only other property outside of Sofia to hold that distinction. The food was a letdown too. There was a generous salad bar, though vegan options were rare. Mains often came out dry and bland, and the sauces had congealed instead of adding anything. The restaurant had two or three hostesses, but I was never shown to my table and had to find my way through the dining maze myself. The whole hotel was around 30°C or more, so a cold drink was hard to enjoy, never mind eating comfortably. Maybe that temperature suits the creepy goat-painting decor, but not people. There were some basic usability problems as well. Light switches were all in the corners, nowhere near the bed, and the balcony doors couldn’t be shut from outside. When I arrived, there was no ramp for trolleys or wheelchairs. I have no idea how guests with mobility or gait impairments, or even people with heavy luggage, are supposed to get in. The floor had a big stain, and so did the top hand towel in the bathroom. The toilet paper was folded as if by a toddler, better to leave it alone. There was no seal on the shower window, so water leaked out and left the bathroom flooded after each shower. Coffee capsules were rationed per guest, with a €2 charge for each extra. I thought that was the low point, until I asked for an iron: it required a €100 deposit, and there was no ironing board. Guests seem to be treated as piggy banks. Management could spend that margin better on a research trip to Southern or Western Europe to learn what minimum hospitality standards actually feel like, and enjoy them, instead of running this fiasco.

The only thing I’d ask them to pay more attention to is cleanliness in the room and around the pool. For a five-star place, it could be a bit better. Our room was spacious, had a fantastic view, and came with all the expected comforts: minibar, coffee facilities, slippers, bathrobes, and the rest. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely facilities and a relaxing feel. Breakfast had an incredible range, and the dinner included with our stay was high quality and very enjoyable. The staff were kind, professional, and always ready to help. We had a wonderful stay at Kasmir Hotel & Spa, and everything else was excellent. We’d definitely choose it again.

The spa has an exceptional concept, but there are some hazards. Water was left around the main pool, and the outdoor jacuzzis have no handles or small tables or equipment for towels and drinks. That could be dangerous for both younger and older people. The food was exceptional, the staff quite friendly, and cleanliness was around 7 out of 10. The rooms are pretty dark, so it’s hard to tell whether the cleaning staff did a proper job. We also didn’t get complimentary water refills in the room, which I don’t think is acceptable for a 5 * hotel. We had a noisy room at first, but when we asked to move, they handled it quickly and politely. The receptionist wasn’t cheerful or welcoming when we first arrived, though customer service improved once we were settled. For a dog-friendly hotel, there weren’t any dog bowls or a dog bed offered to us. We were charged almost 10 % extra per night for our dog. The manager said it was to fund a special cleaning service at checkout. I’ve stayed in real 5 star hotels and never heard of such nonsense. I tried raising my concerns by phone later, but the manager, a lady, had a very hostile, “I know it all” attitude and seemed to know nothing about customer service. If you’re paying the non-festive “normal” rate of about 300 EUR per night, the hotel is worth it, but be patient and know it won’t feel like real 5 star hotels worldwide.

The spa, restaurant, room, and the rest of the experience all felt top-level. We especially loved the pool and outdoor jacuzzis, which were wonderful and perfectly maintained. Our room was outstanding, beautifully styled, very comfortable, and had a unique, breathtaking view. There’s a special charm to it, and every corner of Hotel Kashmir feels thoughtfully put together. The whole place has a refined, calm, luxurious atmosphere. Service was warm, professional, and attentive. The restaurant felt like a high-end luxury dining experience, with an excellent menu, delicious food, and an elegant setting. We loved our stay and will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

The half board was great, with delicious food and friendly staff who were always smiling. The rooms are cosy and comfortable too. The mattress felt too soft for my taste, though that’s just personal preference. One thing to try is the small pools with hot mineral water in the forest. Kashmir is probably one of Bulgaria’s best spa resorts, together with Zornitza. The facilities are great, the spa zone is outstanding, and it’s clean and very cosy. You can’t go wrong with them. My only other downside was that there’s no bidet shower in the restrooms. All in all, it felt like a real 5 star stay, worth the higher price.
