Calla Retreat

There are lots of snug little corners to settle into, and the whole place has a relaxing feel. It was well looked after and had what we needed for an easy stay. I stayed with two friends, and the hosts made us feel right at home. We'd happily recommend Calla Retreat.

Our one-year-old daughter loved being there and could run and play freely around the place. We only had three nights, so there are still plenty of lovely spots around the village we'd like to explore. The cabins were cosy and comfortable, with everything provided. Richard and Kelly made the stay special, and we'll definitely return for the homemade curry, cookies, ice cream, reiki and Indian massage. They were the best hosts, and the whole place felt peaceful, friendly and full of good energy. Even the starry sky over the cabin was amazing. Five stars don't feel like enough!

The location seemed like it might be a drawback at first, since Calla Retreat is rather in the middle of Bulgaria. But it turned out to be a great stop to work into a wider holiday or road trip. All roads go THROUGH Calla Retreat, as I said I'd explain later! My boyfriend and I stayed in the cottage for Richard and Kelly's fall yoga retreat less than a month ago. It was a small, fully furnished, single-storey house with three rooms, all to ourselves, at a very reasonable price. The hosts were the biggest part of what made the retreat enjoyable. You spend quite a bit of time with them at classes and meals, and we both felt they worked together beautifully. She led the yoga classes, with just a little guidance to help us get the poses right, and showed real care for our wellbeing. He took care of meditation and reiki, and did most of the wonderful cooking. The food was splendid, and there was lots of it. Food should be included when you attend a retreat, and it was. No cons. Nada.

Plenty of places outdoors to unwind, with hammocks and hanging chairs, plus a natural water pond you can use as a little pool. There's also a shared sitting and eating area with a kitchen and bathroom. The spot is quiet, right at the edge of a small village, and the food and hospitality were amazing. Can't say more than that.
