Hotel Arenal

The daytime staff were very nice, and that’s the main reason for my rating. The hotel and grounds were okay, and it was clean, with friendly staff in general, apart from the night porter we unfortunately met when we arrived after an overnight bus transfer from Sucre. The place felt worn and didn’t quite match what I expected from its four stars, which I assume were awarded years ago, before the pandemic. The spa wasn’t heated or operating during our stay. The fitness room was about 10m2, with four machines, and the pools and surrounding area were okay.

WORST HOTEL EVER!! When I arrived with my family on 4/23/23, a taxi driver told me it was rated four stars, so I booked two days. On the second night, $300 dollars were stolen from my luggage, and someone also tried to open and break the locks. We asked who had cleaned our room and wanted to see the security cameras, but they wouldn’t show us the footage or tell us the person’s name. It felt as if they were covering for that person. The hotel is in the center, and at night you can hear people yelling and fighting. Please be careful about where you stay.

The breakfast buffet was good and came with the room, and the staff were awesome, kind, and helpful. My stay was comfortable, though the rooms are a little pricey compared with other places. Maybe the cheaper places don’t offer free breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this hotel. Muchas Gracias!

The waiters gave good service, and it’s a four-star hotel. The one drawback is that the pool isn’t heated when the weather is cold.
