Harbour Village Beach Club Bonaire

The location worked perfectly for us. We could walk to lots of places and get a taxi easily when needed. My husband and I stayed the first week of February and had a wonderful time. Both the grounds and our room were beautiful and very well maintained. The front desk and dive shop staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. We’d happily come back.

My husband and I have dived around the world for decades, and we’ve never had a dive shop handle charges this way. We were shocked by the final itemized bill at checkout, almost $2,000 for two days of diving. We were charged the full rental gear price for days we didn’t dive, without being told about those charges during orientation. The park-required check dive was fine with us, but it lasted about 10 minutes in front of the shop to check buoyancy and weights. We were charged for a full oxygen tank and full gear rental for that as well, again with no advance explanation. If we’d known, we would have used the whole tank and gone diving that day, since we did the check dive early on our first morning. We’d also have dived on two consecutive days to avoid paying for three days while the gear sat in the locker, or returned the gear instead of storing it. When my husband raised the extra charges with dive shop management, an employee just said they were written on a board outside. We shouldn’t have been expected to spot every detail there. It’s especially unfortunate because Maya, our divemaster, and the other staff were friendly and helpful. What should have been a relaxing, much-needed vacation left us with a distinctly negative impression. Do not dive with the resort’s shop.

The beach and pools are quiet and tucked away, a great place to spend the day relaxing. Our family of four, including two grown teenage boys, found the two-bedroom suite just right on our first visit to Bonaire last week. The resort was well maintained throughout, from the grounds and rooms to the beach, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It works well for divers and non-divers alike, which suited our mixed family. Pepe and the dive team were top notch. We went on several boat dives and really enjoyed the guided sites, which are generally harder to reach from shore. We also did plenty of self-guided shore diving, and the tank exchange was effortless. Other guests told us they come to Bonaire regularly and always stay at Harbour Village. Now I see why. We’ll return to Bonaire and stay at Harbour Village again.

We loved having so much to do between relaxing and enjoying the views. Kayaking was included, beach service was lovely, and the beach is one of the most beautiful in Bonaire. The food at La Balandra was great. The welcome started with a fun, lively drive from the airport with Huntley. He knows the area so well and made the short ride entertaining and informative. His enthusiasm for the island set a great tone. At the resort, Ximinea and Dawn made us feel at home with their kindness and cheerful, attentive care. They went out of their way to make everything run smoothly. The grounds are lush and tropical, and the views are stunning, whether you’re on the beach or sitting quietly on your balcony. Harbour Village Beach Club felt like a peaceful oasis. The service and natural beauty made the trip memorable. Thanks to Ximinea, Dawn, Huntley, and the whole team. We’re already looking forward to returning.
