It was just good enough...

The beds were comfortable and had linens, which was a plus. We also had breakfast, though nobody told us where to find it. Booking by WhatsApp was easy, and they even arranged an extra mattress for our family of two adults and three children. The room they could offer had one double bed and one single bed, so that was fine. At check-in, though, nobody mentioned breakfast, the Wi-Fi password, or extra towels. I felt that a family of our size should have had at least two sets of towels, but when I asked for more, they gave me just one towel. The part that really upset me came after checkout, while I was already on the road. The hotel messaged to say the housekeepers had found damage to the curtains. My children hadn't damaged anything. I always check the condition of a room when we arrive and again before we leave. When we got there, I noticed one blackout curtain was held with a safety pin and assumed hotel staff had patched it. But the photo they sent showed that pin and part of the curtain completely off its track. It wasn't like that when I left and checked the room. I felt completely embarrassed by the situation. I sent a voice message explaining how I'd found and left the room, and the staff member replied, "I understand, but nobody else came in after your checkout." What's more, in that same message they immediately named the amount a service provider would charge to repair it. I don't want to speculate, but it's very easy to put a family with children in a room and then claim something was damaged.
