Pousada Estancia das Flores

We rented a room for a month, and when my boyfriend and I arrived, we had to clean the whole place ourselves. The minibar had disposable cups with dark water in them, water bottles, and grime inside the fridge. We had to wash every part of it, including the inside. In the bathroom, we had to use bleach. The shower stall was in terrible shape, and inside it there was leftover soap, hair, a razor, and tiles covered in splashes from other people's showers. We made the mistake of not checking the kitchen first. It was shocking. The owners' personal things were everywhere, filthy cloths were on the table and sink, and all the kitchen items were caked in grease. When we asked for the kitchen to be cleaned, the owner's wife said it would only happen when the whole area was cleaned. We needed to stay there, so we ended up cleaning it ourselves. Such disregard. A guesthouse should be a place to relax, not a source of stress because the people running it can't do their job. It's a family who does whatever they want and doesn't care about the people paying to stay there. They should call it “Pousada da mãe Joana” so nobody expects a restful stay. The place is abandoned, and if you go there without checking it out first, you'll have more work than you would at home.

The location is pleasant and quiet, and the breakfast is simple with limited choice, but fair for the price. The pool area could use better lighting at night. We booked a double room, but only one room had air conditioning. It was so hot in the room without it that we all had to sleep together.

The pool was wonderful, the breakfast was great, and the bed was comfortable. The place felt cozy, and the children had lots of fun. We were treated really well and the staff were incredibly humble, though one part of the service didn't feel as warm. I'd come back. I just wish there were more mats between the bedroom and bathroom.

It's a pretty, cozy guesthouse, and the people who welcomed us were polite and friendly. Still, the service could be better. The minibar was empty, and the front desk was often unattended, so we couldn't find anyone when we wanted to ask about something like delivery. I'd stay here again.
