Pousada Paraiso Dos Tucanos

Everything felt in harmony with the natural surroundings, from the inn itself to the staff and breakfast. The staff were always so helpful. It was an incredible experience, and we’ll be back soon.

Paraíso dos Tucanos is lovely and well located. We stayed in a comfortable, cozy loft after the booking platform had a communication mix-up with the inn. The team handled everything for us in the best way, so we didn’t need to worry. The host and staff were attentive and available. Breakfast was good, and the pão de queijo won my heart. We loved it and are very grateful!

The horseback ride was a highlight, really fun and very well organized. The inn itself is wonderful, surrounded by nature and wonderfully peaceful. Everyone was attentive and helpful, which made a real difference to my stay. I’m definitely planning to come back!

We went with my husband and son for New Year’s, hoping for a wonderful food experience because Minas Gerais is so well known for its cuisine. We were hugely disappointed. The room had no TV, though we love watching a movie at night, and the hammock smelled moldy. Traffic made us arrive late, so we booked lunch for 4:00. We were hungry and looking forward to it, but got a bowl full of broth with just three pieces of stewed meat. The rice tasted like it came from the bottom of the pot. It was 98,00 and listed as enough for two, but we had to ask for more rice and salad. They said they’d run out of meat, which explained the tiny serving. There was no beans any of the days we were there. There was no room service either. Our room was 250 meters from the main building, and the way up was either across wet grass or along a dirt road. The owner hadn’t made a path for pedestrians, even though one suite was so far from the main building. When we messaged on WhatsApp, replies took ages. My husband ended up going to the restaurant in the rain to get what we needed. Breakfast was a disaster too: the same French bread, papaya, one juice flavor, and the same cake every day. Items were often missing and took forever to be replenished. When we spoke to the owner, she blamed the staff shortage. Imagine Amazon or Decolar saying they couldn’t deliver your order or book your flight because of a staff shortage. And that wasn’t all. Our bathtub broke, and the New Year’s dinner was completely disorganized. A woman who introduced herself as a guest was helping in the dining room by taking drink orders. Plates and cutlery were missing, and although the food tasted good, it was cold. The dessert table still wasn’t set up close to 11:00. Again, the explanation was a lack of staff. The inn was awful. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.
