Pousada Alto Da Chapada

I’d seen negative reviews, but those were from before the change in management. Sônia now owns the pousada, and she’s friendly and helpful. The room was tidy and had air conditioning, cable TV, and everything you need for a pousada stay. It’s in a convenient spot near the main street with restaurants, bars, and supermarkets. The owner makes breakfast to suit what we want, and you can tell she puts care into it. I highly recommend the place, especially with such a capable person running it now. Five stars is the highest I can give, or I’d give more.

The room was really sweet, clean, and well organized, and the care and good taste showed throughout the pousada. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, who kept offering to help with whatever we needed, from outing tips to recommendations for places to go. The location is excellent, very close to Alto Paraíso’s main street of bars and restaurants. My stay was perfect, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Chapada!

I was worried after reading the Google reviews, but the stay turned out much better than I expected. The pousada has a new owner, Dona Sônia, who’s renovating it. Our room was spotless, with fresh white sheets and clean towels. I have rhinitis and usually struggle with dust when I sleep away from home, but had no trouble here. Since we were the only guests, Dona Sônia asked what we’d like for breakfast. I mentioned the toasted ham and cheese sandwich I usually eat at home, and she made even more than we’d asked for: cake, cookies, fruit, and more. She also leaves an electric kettle and a selection of teas available. The location is handy too, very close to the main street.

I stayed here for four days, from 16/9 to 20/9/22, and it was awful. I won’t be back. The pousada felt abandoned, and we didn’t get a warm welcome. My room had no TV, and the fan barely worked. I complained to the owner, Jonatas, but he made no effort to fix it. Breakfast was served at another pousada called Tradição, and the choices were extremely limited. They didn’t change the towels either. Zero stars for failing to provide even the basics expected of budget accommodation.
