We felt well looked after the whole time at Ponta Barca, and everything was handled with care. Getting there was straightforward: bus from Rio de Janeiro to Angra dos Reis, then the NATIGA boat straight to Ponta Barca. We’d give the place a solid 10/10 and plan to return on our next trip to Ilha Grande. The setting is a big part of what makes it special. The beach stays uncrowded, the surroundings are peaceful, and the views are amazing. Even rooms at the back still have a sea view. Our room was roomy and spotless, with a big comfortable bed and mosquito-screened windows. It was cleaned daily, and we could borrow beach chairs and umbrellas. The hosts were so warm and genuinely kind. Their son speaks English, which made things easier for us. Meals felt like proper home cooking made with love. Breakfast was generous, varied, full of local products, and changed each day. We wholeheartedly recommend Ponta Barca.

This is about the restaurant. We had soup and salad, and both were so tasty I’d happily go back any day. The wait was a bit long, but worth it. The staff were incredibly helpful and lovely. Thank you!

This place feels like paradise, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to stay here. Caio is so sweet and lovely, always seeming to know what you need before you ask. The hosts are wonderful, welcoming people, and the food is outstanding, delicious, fresh, and made with local ingredients. One of the best places to stay in Ilha Grande.

The warm welcome was part of every visit, whether we came for lunch or stopped by in the evening for beer and caipirinhas. This family-run pousada and restaurant, looked after by a lovely mother and son, was a real highlight of our stay. They're both kind and attentive, and her son speaks perfect English, so chatting was easy. We were greeted with roasted nuts or bread, always served with a smile. He was proud to show us the herb garden and his homemade chili oil, which comes in different spice levels and is a must-try. There’s a personal feel to the place, with great local tips and even a look at the cacao plant in their backyard. We got to taste cacao nibs. Some friends stayed here and were very happy too. If you’re deciding where to spend money on the island, this place deserves it. We couldn’t recommend it more.
